Abe Mor

Abe Mor grew up in Afghanistan, surrounded by his musician father’s haunting songs. In 1950 his family moved to Israel and 1970 he settled in New York. Unable to make a living as a musician, he became a successful jeweler, while kept playing music.

Not remembering the original lyrics of the unique Afghani Jewish music, Mor rewrote the lyrics in Hebrew. As the last living Afghani Jewish musician, Mor is accompanied by two members of the Bukharian group, Sashmaqam.
