A collaboration between Montreal accordionist-arranger Henri Oppenheim (Kleztory) and Yiddish singer Allan Merovitz (Flying Bulgar Klezmer Band, KlezMerovitz, and Ot Azoj Klezmerband-Amsterdam), Merovitz Project explores the vocal repertoire of Eastern European Jews with traditional klezmer melodies.
Merovitz is recognized as an accomplished Badkhn (wedding MC, jester and singer), carrying the musical tradition of his Polish grandfather. Also an actor, playwright, clown and storyteller, Merovitz brings energy and enticing vocal style to his performances.
With Henri Oppenheim, the leader of Kleztory, Julie Triquet on violin and Mathieu Deschenaux on bass, Merovitz creates music that expands the horizons of the Canadian world-beat and Jewish music scene with passion and humour.
