Founded in 2001 by bandleader, composer and ethnomusicologist Samuel Thomas, Asefa incorporates elements of Moroccan and jazz-based musical traditions with repertoire from Israel, Persia, Poland and America.
Arranged from Thomas’ original compositions, Asefa’s music instills a wide musical landscape that also consists of contemporary concepts of improvisation and instrumentation that reflects an integral spirit of music making.
